Description: Gonorrhea is the second most commonly reported sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the U.S. and is caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. This bacterium thrives in the warm, moist areas of the reproductive tract (cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes) in women and urine canal in both men and women.
